Melissa McCarthy’s ELLE Magazine Cover
Melissa McCarthy is one of our favorite plus size celebrities, and she’s featured on the cover of ELLE’s November 2013 issue. The cover photo has caused a lot of controversy as to whether the over-sized trench coat and big bold hair covers up the comedian’s signature curves. The rise of plus size couture is a recent development in the fashion world as the fashion community rethinks the idea of beauty and the ideal model. While the ELLE cover has created quite a stir, the photo does demonstrate some encouraging steps in the new direction of the fashion world’s increasingly progressive thinking. For example, the image is a full-body photo as opposed to other iconic plus size girls who have been cropped on covers. In my opinion, Melissa McCarthy looks stunning as ever on the cover, and I can’t wait to check out this issue!
Kate Moss is Teaming Up with Vogue
Here’s another reason to hit up your best-stocked Barnes and Noble or your local specialty magazine store to grab the British edition of Vogue. Supermodel Kate Moss has added another venture to her resume: she has signed on to be a contributing fashion editor to the British magazine. You’ve got time to locate the store that carries British Vogue. Kate Moss is expected to make her debut with the magazine in Spring 2014.
The Newest Cover Girl
You won’t believe who is the next Cover Girl! Katy Perry has snagged the coveted title for the brand’s Spring 2014 campaign. Katy Perry is known for her ever changing, over the top looks, so it will be interesting to see the full campaign come Spring. The first shot from the campaign features Perry easy, breezy, and beautiful with a bright clean face, a bold lip, and edgy accessories. I think it’s the perfect combination of the classic Cover Girl aesthetic and the pop-signer’s signature style.
